At the end of the first session of remote support, it is vital to gain consent specifically for being supported remotely. To do this, summarise the points covered in this module:
- brightness_1What will be used to provide remote support
- brightness_1Confidentiality/security limitations
- brightness_1How risk will be managed
- brightness_1Setting boundaries
- brightness_1Communication adaptations
Then discuss the following:
- brightness_1Negatives and positives of receiving support remotely. For example, the therapeutic relationship is different – it might be more difficult to understand each other’s communication, and indicate that you might sometimes need to double check the meaning of a comment/statement.
- brightness_1Find out who else is involved in the person’s care, and if necessary, gain consent to speak with them
- brightness_1Any questions or concerns the person may have
