As discussed in the first module ("Before Providing Remote Psychological Support") it is essential to prepare for how to manage risk before beginning remote support. If you have not received training, it is recommended that you request this from your supervisor prior to engaging in remote service provision and familiarise yourself with organisational policies. 

Remember to always ask the person where they are located at the beginning of each session. 

In the first remote session, it is suggested you (i) assess risk, (ii) ensure that the person knows the protocol for managing risk, and (iii) create a safety plan. These are discussed in more detail in the following sections.
