Helpers can feel anxious when considering how to manage risk remotely. This is understandable, however there are many steps you can take to manage risk effectively.

Lightbulb Before you start providing remote care, you will need to know how to manage risk remotely. This will allow you to (i) explain risk procedures to people accessing care and (ii) manage any risk issues that arise immediately.


One of the greatest challenges to managing risk remotely is that you are not physically present with the person. Risk can come in the form of risk to self (through self harm or imminent suicide risk), risk from others (eg. abuse from significant other) or to others (eg. abuse towards others).
